First Week of the Plan
The Blonde and I just started a new running plan. We have hired Coach Caleb. Caleb is the coach and founder of TeamBonkProof. Caleb’s current PRs are 15:45 (5k), 1:10 (half marathon), and 2:34 (marathon). Needless to say, he is pretty quick and knows his stuff!
We decided to hire a coach for a couple of reasons. One, I am recovering from an injury and I wanted advice about how best to get back into running shape. Two, we wanted to take our running to the next level. Caleb has coached many runners to their PRs.
So, this is the end of the first week of the plan. We are currently training for the runDisney Dumbo Dare. My goal is just to be able to complete it without any injuries. (My real goal is to get a PR ;))
The training has certainly been different and more structured. When we trained for Goofy, we used a modified Hal Higdon marathon plan. We pretty much had a mileage in mind and went and ran it. This is different.
My first day was actually based on time, which was a different way of thinking. Then my next day of running was also timed and had easy running followed by some core work. On Friday, I ran hills for distance followed by more core work. Yesterday was another easy run by mileage (which I went over, oops).
Given I am getting back into it slowly, we are on slightly different plans. Basically, The Blonde is running about twice as much as I am right now. Hopefully, that gap will shrink as I get back into shape.
